The association of two polymorphisms in adiponectin-encoding gene with hypertension risk and the changes of circulating adiponectin and blood pressure: A meta-analysis

Abstract: ObjectivesThis meta-analysis was prepared to synthesize published data on the association of two polymorphisms (T45G and G276T) in adiponectin-encoding gene (ADIPOQ) with hypertension risk and the changes of circulating adiponectin and blood pressure.Methodology and Major FindingsData were collected and corrected by two authors, and were managed with Stata software. In total, 12 articles were synthesized, including 12 studies (3358 cases and 5121 controls) for the association of two study polymorphisms with hy… Show more

“…A recent meta‐analysis on the association of two polymorphisms in the adiponectin‐encoding gene related to hypertension and the changes of circulating adiponectin and BP showed that although no significant association between the ADIPOQ T45G or G276T polymorphism and hypertension was found, the heterozygous G276T mutation was responsible for increased circulating adiponectin levels and increased BP values in patients with hypertension …”

“…We have studied the polymorphisms of the ADIPOQ -G276T (rs1501299) gene and the polymorphism of the ADIPOR1 gene -A/T (rs2275737) and C/T (rs2275738). The selection of these variants of polymorphism was conditioned by the data of metaanalyses [6,10,21] according to the frequency of associations with the risk of MS and DM2. One hundred patients with confirmed diagnosis of DM2 were included in the study.…”

“…In ADIPOQ, two polymorphisms -T45G (rs2241766) in the second exon and G276T (rs1501299) in the second intron -were investigated in connection with the risk of hypertension and AN circulating changes [6]. The risk of MS, DM-2, hyperglycemia and dyslipidemia in Kyrgyz women is associated with the carriership of the T allele in ADIPOQ gene's polymorphic marker G276T [7].…”

“…62 Briefly, one meta-analysis which included 12 studies with 3358 hypertensives and 5121 controls in an evaluation of the association of two ADIPOQ polymorphisms (T45G and G276T) with hypertension risk and 11 studies (with a total of 3053 subjects) in an evaluation of between-genotype changes of adiponectin and/or blood found that mutation in locus G276T was associated with increased plasma adiponectin concentration and blood pressure, especially in hypertensive patients. 63 A recent study by Jhuo et al which examined the association of ADIPOQ SNP T94G and resistant hypertension in young-onset patients reported that this SNP was associated with around 2.8 times higher odds for resistant hypertension. 64 An especially interesting hypothesis is that different polymorphisms might predispose to different adiponectin multimer profiles, but, as far as we know, this hypothesis has not yet been confirmed.…”
