The axenic cultivation of Hexamita inflata from Crassostrea virginica

Abstract: Hexamita inflata in axenic culture by serial transfer in a beef serum or egg yolk enriched medium containing antibiotics.An examination of the urine of hamsters bearing adenovirus-12 induced tumors showed an elevated excretion of methylated purines. The weight of the animals increased 1 to 5% while the purines excreted increased 200%.
