PurposeThis paper aims to examine the role of responsible leadership in faculty readiness for online crisis teaching (FROCT) in higher education institutions (HEIs). Additionally, the paper investigates the mediating effect of teaching satisfaction on the relationship between responsible leadership and FROCT.Design/methodology/approachAn online survey was conducted to collect responses from 437 faculty members from Bangladeshi HEIs. A partial least square structural equation model was employed to examine the research hypotheses.FindingsResponsible leadership has no direct relationship with FROCT; however, responsible leadership increases teaching satisfaction. Teaching satisfaction acts as a significant mediator between responsible leadership and FROCT. A symbiotic relationship between responsible leadership and teaching satisfaction is essential for improving FROCT. The findings of this study, in general, emphasise the importance of teaching satisfaction in facilitating the implementation of the responsible leadership model in HEIs.Originality/valueDespite numerous studies on faculty online teaching, extant literature lacks empirical evidence on the relationship between responsible leadership, teaching satisfaction, and FROCT in HEI settings. This study provides evidence for implementing the responsible leadership model in developing countries' HEIs.

The quality of the education system is the foremost factor for the success of the students as well as the academia at large, and therefore, needs the focus of regulators and researchers alike. The current article investigates into the role of human resource (HR) quality and Kaizen on the quality assurance system in the context of the high school environment in Indonesia. The current research also analyzes the moderating role of national higher education policies among the associations of HR quality, Kaizen and the quality assurance system in the high school environment in Indonesia. The primary sources of data collection have been adopted by the researchers using survey questionnaires. The medical students are the respondents targeted by the researchers selected based on purposive sampling. The researchers have adopted primary data analysis tools such as Smart-PLS to test the hypotheses and check the validity and reliability of the items and constructs. The findings indicated that HR quality and Kaizen have a positive association with quality assurance systems within the high school environment in Indonesia. The outcomes also revealed that national higher education policies significantly moderate among the association of HR quality, Kaizen and quality assurance system in the high school environment in Indonesia. These outcomes provide valuable insights for policymaking regarding assessment and improvement of the quality assurance system in the education sector in the country. Studies on employability using a mixed methods (MM) design have been published in relevant journals in recent years, paving the way for a meaningful engagement with these published articles so that researchers can create milestone documents dedicated to exploring employability. This study explored the trend of utilizing mixed methods research (MMR) in the literature and the resultant methodological insights in 34 MMR articles on employability, which were selected from the 744 articles published during 2010–2019 in five major journals. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) technique was followed for systematic review, and analysis was conducted. The analysis reveals an increasing trend by using an MMR approach in employability studies. The robust analysis of a body of qualitative and quantitative data with personal reflection from deeper understanding supported the outcomes of most of these studies. However, informed engagement of both qualitative and quantitative strands and additional efforts in integration and data merging can contribute meaningfully to the examination of the employability notion. In conclusion, MMR adds rigor to the discourse of employability, serving as a guide to ensure the connection between education and employment. It also offers insights into reforming higher education.
