Hell is a place that is very much feared by mankind because this place is understood as a place of punishment with an eternal sea of fire for sinful humans. The term hell in some beliefs becomes a form of understanding that is not only a philosophical term but refers to a place of eternal torment that is scary. The understanding of hell from ancient Middle Eastern cultural beliefs strongly influenced Christian theology. How the beliefs of ancient Middle Eastern cultures understand what hell is, where is hell, how and why humans can go to hell. Departing from the cultural context of the ancient Middle East, the meaning and meaning of this hell became absorbed in the teachings of Christian theology. This understanding of hell in ancient Middle Eastern culture gives its own color in Christian theological understanding of punishment. In research using the trajectory method in biblical historical studies which examines the influence of hell from Ancient Middle Eastern culture which has a cross in understanding Christian theological teachings about eternal punishment for humans. Abstrak: Neraka yang merupakan tempat yang sangat ditakutkan oleh umat manusia sebab tempat ini dimengerti sebagai tempat penghukuman dengan lautan api kekal bagi manusia yang berdosa. Istilah neraka dalam beberapa kepercayaan menjadi suatu bentuk pemahaman yang tidak hanya sekedar istilah filosofi tetapi merujuk kepada suatu tempat penyiksaan yang kekal yang menyeramkan. Pemahaman neraka dari pelbagai kepercayaan budaya Timur Tengah kuno sangat kuat mempengaruhi teologi Kristen. Bagaimana kepercayaan dari budaya Timur Tengah kuno memahami apa itu neraka, dimana itu neraka, bagaimana dan kenapa manusia dapat masuk ke dalam neraka. Berangkat dari konteks budaya Timur Tengah kuno maka pemaknaan dan arti dari neraka ini menjadi diserap dalam ajaran teologi Kristen. Pemahaman neraka dalam budaya Timur Tengah Kuno ini memberikan warna tersendiri dalam pemahaman teologi Kristen tentang penghukuman. Dalam penelitian menggunakan metode trajektori dalam studi historis biblika dimana mengkaji pengaruh neraka dari budaya Timur Tengah Kuno yang memiliki persinggungan dalam memahami ajaran teologi Kristen tentang penghukuman kekal terhadap manusia.

This study aims to look at the development of contextual theology in Indonesia, which is a theology that is intertwined with the characteristics of Indonesia as a nation and a unitary state. The development of contextual theology that is unique to Indonesia cannot be separated from the basic principles of national and state life, such as the five precepts in Pancasila, one of which is the principle of "Indonesian Unity." This study presents the idea of "Indonesian Unity," initiated by Soekarno and Mohammad Hatta, which was used by an Indonesian theologian, namely Eka Darmaputera, in developing contextual theology in Indonesia, namely a contextual theology that is not only based on the scriptures but is also based on contextual theology and is limited by the concept of "Indonesian Unity," which comes from the ideas of the two national figures. The method used in this research is to elaborate on the writings of the three figures, especially those related to the theme of "Indonesian Unity," and to use some historical records as one of the arguments for the importance of developing contextual theology based on the idea of "Persatuan Indonesia" (Indonesian unity). This study is more focused on contextual theology developed by Eka Darmaputera. His understanding of evangelism, mission, dialogue and concepts related to the field of contextual theology is ethically applied in dealing with challenges that come from the dangers of national disintegration and challenges that come from injustices that still often occur after the independence of the republic of Indonesia.

Out of the Shadows of Patriarchy: The Struggle for Women’s Liberation in the Holy Bible

In the interpretation of the Bible, feminists are often trapped by the method of progressive subversive interpretation which considers the entire Bible to be written by a patriarchal culture which must of necessity be deconstructed. But through this paper, it is understood that in the Holy Bible it was not entirely written only for a pervading patriarchal culture, but indeed the Holy Bible, or at least a part of the book was written by women in their struggle for liberation. There is even a book that reverses patriarchal culture and turns it into a matriarchy, that the family is not "beth-av" (father's house), but the word family relates to the notion of a "mother's house" in the book of Ruth. There are of course numerous great women in the Holy Bible, inter-alia, Mary, the virgin mother of Jesus, Deborah, Ruth, Sarah, Priscilla, Rahab, Hannah, Esther and Miriam who was the archetype of the female prophetic tradition. The method used in this article is historical criticism and exegesis. It is through this method that the texts that are used as examples in this article are examined and there is indeed a feminist struggle for freedom. A feminist lens permits a look at text through the eyes of women and to analyze how women are depicted and presented when compared to men. There is a need to reinterprete patriarchal imagery and language usage about God, and we need to determine women's place in relation sacred texts that are studied and to liberate the fairer sex.
