RINALYSIS is usually limited to screening tests when urinary tract disorders are not suspected. Demonstration of leucocytes in urine offers special problems if microscopy is not included.In 1964 Prescott and Brodie described a staining method for urinary sediment based on the pzroxidase reaction, where leucocytes are found by microscopy to be stained deep blue-black, renal tubular cells and squamous epithelial cells pink, and erythrocytes red. The present paper dzals with a new method for the demonstration of pyuria, by which Prescott and Brodie's stain is applied in a spot test on filter paper after filtration of urine.Method.-Ten millilitres of urine are filtered through a filter paper.
