The Comparison between Two Hypnoteaching Models in Mathematics Teaching and Learning

Abstract: This study compares two hypnoteaching models used to teach students mathematics. Due to the increase in the use of these models, further vigorous studies are needed to verify their effects. This is a quasi-experiment research conducted to compare the use of the hypnoteaching model using three classes of students. The first, second, and third classes of 15, 13, and 15 students were randomly taught with the Erickson Hypnoteaching Model (Erickson-HM), Elman Hypnoteaching Model (Elman-HM), and conventional non-hyp… Show more

“…This condition makes students choose to accept the situation and remain silent when they find learning material that is difficult to solve, especially in learning mathematics. It is supported by Ja'faruddin et al (2020) stating that learning mathematics is often considered difficult with abstract, systematic, logical specifications, which require an effort to think critically.…”

“…Hypnotic suggestions are used in the teaching and learning process for students to control their "unconcious" drive and focus on the teaching and learning process. [8] Since hypnotic trance is relarly associated with relaxation, it can reduce tension and disturbunce by itself. Most hypnoteraphy sessions include enjoyable and desirable situations such as light and floating feelings and deep physical and mental relaxation that result in therapeutic effects of hypnosis.…”

“…It is traditionally defined as a highly focused state, which is sometimes marked with relaxation and a high level of suggestibility. [8] During process of Hypnoteaching method, teacher is likened a magnet that can attract student's attention to subject in learning process. This method is emphasized on subconscious communication, that can be done in the classroom and outside of classroom.…”
