“…Test results below 20 cm H,O pressure in 3 patients with clinically severe neurogenic paralysis of 3, 6 and 10 years duration were ascribed to myogenic degeneration: one had 1000 ml residual urine while in the other two the capacity was of this order with a residual urine amounting to one-half. Also, as known from other studies (Kirwin & Hawes, 1934;Plum, 1960), a single overdistension may impair the myogenic properties, as was seen in one patient whose test result was previously almost constant but was lowzred (from 18 to 13 cm H,O pressure) when a test was performed 2 hours after a single spontaneous overdistension (1000 ml) had been relieved. When the history is suspect for previous, recent or chronic muscular damage, reservations should be taken in evaluation of the test result.…”
