Abstract:Summary. These studies examined the influence of gluten ingestion on the murine immune response to this cereal antigen. The results demonstrated that the level of specific antibody in the serum of mice immunised with gliadin is markedly reduced when gluten is present in the diet on which the animals were raised. Serum antibody concentrations in the glutenfree (G-F) mice were between 10-and 50-fold greater than those in the standard (STD) mice. The suppression of the antibody response to gliadin in the gluten-f… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
