“…A study in which oral meloxicam was administered as soon as possible after the onset of farrowing showed improved piglet weaning weight, average daily gain and evidence for improved immunoglobulin-G (IgG) transfer ( 12 ). Sows treated with intramuscular meloxicam spent less time lying on the third day following parturition ( 7 ) and younger sows treated with ketoprofen were more active than those given a placebo ( 11 ), which may indicate improved recovery post-farrowing.
