The active growth of the world's population has led to the emergence and aggravation of the issues of human-nature interaction. Resulting from more than thirty year long discussions at different levels, the term sustainable development had been introduced by the international scientific community, and later the sustainable development goals were indentified. Currently, the Russian Federation has defined national Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) indicators, however they cannot be used for the assessment of the socio-ecological and economic development of the region to their full extent. Using the example of the Novosibirsk region, a list of indicators for the assessment of the sustainable development status was determined. Based on the comparison of these indicators, the integral characteristics of the regional sustainable development factors were calculated, and using these characteristics the duration of the status periods was identified.
