The Evidences of Morphology Dependent Electroactivity Toward CO Oxidation over Bismuth Oxide Supported Pt

Abstract: The new evidences of morphology dependent electrocatalytic activity for CO oxidation have been presented. Different morphological micro-sized Bi 2 O 3 supports, with Bi 2 O 3 flowers-like and tubes-like characteristics, have been synthesized. The Pt was deposited on the supports by photo-deposition method. It has been found that the micro-sized flowers-like supported Pt/Bi 2 O 3 catalyst exhibits higher peak current densities, more negative onset potential, peak potential, and higher electrocatalytic activity … Show more

“…Since the metal nanoparticles can store electrons making the e − /h + charge separation [19], the catalytic activity was found to be more enhanced when noble metals, such as Au, Ag, Cu and Pt nanoparticles, were loaded on the semiconductors. Although some works have been done on the heterogeneous catalytic activities of the noble metals loaded ␣-Bi 2 O 3 nanostructures [20][21][22], the photocatalytic activity of the composites is still inefficient. It is therefore of interesting to investigate the photocatalytic activity of noble metals loaded ␤-Bi 2 O 3 nano-and microstructures.…”
