The influence of effective soybean seed treatment on root biomass formation and seed production

Abstract: The soya seed was treated before sowing with the following biological active substances: Lignohumate B, Lexin, Lexenzym, brassinosteroid, and "Complex treatment" (a mixture of saturated sugar solution, Lexin, fungicide treatment Maxim XL 035 FS and remedial pinolen substance Agrovital). During growing, the influence of biological active substances on root biomass formation and the activity of bacteria for nitrogen fixation was observed. Evaluated parameters were shoot biomass formation and dry mass formation o… Show more

“…However, there is some information on their effect on germination and field emergence for some other crops. Procházka et al (2019), who evaluated the effect of soybean seed presowing treatment with various stimulation products containing humic substances and phytohormones, found a positive influence of these compounds on field emergence and plant growth at the beginning of vegetation, whereas the best results were obtained with products containing auxins. Similar results were recorded in field experiments with the pre-sowing treatment of sorghum seed (Adamčík et al 2016).…”

“…
Healthy seed with high vigour is the basis for the successful growth of all crops. Such seed is a primary precondition for favourable plant growth, development and, finally, for a high yield of seed (Procházka et al 2019). This is especially true for poppy, which belongs to the small-seeded crops with an average thousand seed weight (TSW) of about 0.55 g and is characterised by a high sensitivity to unfavourable agroecological conditions, especially during germination and in the initial stages of vegetation, when a whole range of stress conditions can affect the subtle plants.

“…Increasing requirements for seed quality have led to the search for new methods for seed improvement. In addition to the production of high-quality seed, the highest possible uniformity of physical characteristics is required (shape, size, weight) as well as the highest possible seed value (purity, germination capacity) [ 1 ]. Apart from the process of after-harvest treatment (purification and calibration), very important are also special pre-sowing treatments focused on enhanced seed uniformity, uniform germination and emergence, or on facilitating the subsequent seed handling, which would allow a better distribution of seeds at sowing so that a uniform and precisely established, evenly developing stand is achieved [ 2 ].…”

“…Planting leguminous crops is an effective way to improve soil by providing biologically fixed nitrogen (N) and enriching beneficial bacterial communities [ 6 , 7 ], but its effect on the soil pH has been controversial. In theory, legume root systems are expected to accelerate soil acidification.…”
