The M. vitrata (New World) mitogenome had the typical Ditrysian gene order trnM-trnI-trnQ-nad2 (Yukuhiro et al, 2002;Coates et al, 2005;Kim et al, 2006;Lee et al, 2006;Cameron and Whiting, 2008;Hong et al, 2008), which differed from the ancestral gene order trnItrnE-trnM-nad2 found in other insects (Cameron, 2014). This was first reported by Taylor et al (1993) in lycaenids and noctuids, but has now been found in five lepidopteran superfamilies (Papilionoidea, Noctuoidea, Pyraloidea, Tortricoidea, and Bombycoidea) and a synapomorphy of Ditrysia (Salvato et al, 2008).…”
