The Prognosis of Influence of The Oder River Waters Dammed by Malczyce Barrage on Left Bank Areas

Abstract: The finalisation of the construction of the Malczyce barrage is planned for 2015. Damming of the river will cause a change in the water and ground conditions in the adjoining areas. The paper analyses the influence of the water level in the Oder River dammed by the barrage on groundwater table level in the left bank valley. A model which allows the prediction of groundwater levels depending on the assumed water level in the Oder was constructed. The analysis was conducted for three different variants: for the … Show more

“…After identifying the permeability coefficient, the model was verified by comparing the calculated ordinates of the water table with measurements from the years 1970-2011 [11]. As the boundary conditions, medium-sized water levels in the Odra, the Średzka Woda and the Jeziorka were assumed before the planned damming [2]. The water level in the Odra River at the entrance to the model amounted to 98.32 m asl.…”

“…The Polish-German border runs along the Odra River up to the river fork in Widuchowa, and from the fork to the Gryfino Both the Lower Odra and the entire Odra estuary have been intensively changed by humans [CHALFEN et al 2014;OLSZEWSKA et al 2014]. At the end of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century, the Eastern Odra River bed was dug over and formed in its current setting.…”
