The Quantitative Evaluation on the Lapping Uniformity of Rotated Dual-Plates Lapping Mode

Abstract: The lapping trace distribution on ball surface is one of the key factors during the lapping process, which can affect the sphericity of lapping. The Rotated Dual-Plates lapping mode (RDP lapping mode) can achieve better uniformity of lapping trace distribution on precision ball surface, which ensure the results of forming sphere by lapping. Combining with the basic principle of RDP lapping mode, as well as the analysis of the kinematics of the RDP lapping method, this paper puts forward a basic rule about the … Show more

“…From equation (2), it is clear that the correcting factor (cos 2 g À cos g sin g) is not symmetric about the optical axis of the probe. Considering the tilt angle g normally is very small, an approximation can be made to show the correcting factor as a function of g, as shown in equation (3).…”

“…Considering the tilt angle g normally is very small, an approximation can be made to show the correcting factor as a function of g, as shown in equation (3). For small tilt, equation (2) can be approximated as equation To minimize any influence of laser intensity fluctuation on the measurement, a differential normalization method was applied to the measured signals…”
