The Research of Navigation Flow Conditions and Improvement Measures on Entrance Area and Connecting Reach of Dahua Lock in Hongshui River

Abstract: The ship facilities didn’t be constructed in step with the construction of Dahua Terminal in Hongshui River of Guangxi province, while the argumentation didn’t be carried out when navigation lock was built out. In the condition above, when the navigation lock was completed, the navigation flow conditions in the entrance area of downstream and the linkage section was bad, so ships were difficult to enter the approach channel. The research of navigation flow conditions and nay navigation mechanism in the entranc… Show more

“…Cen Wen et al used a two-dimensional steady flow mathematical model to simulate the navigable flow condition for entrance and connection reach in the upstream and downstream approach channels of the Tiangongtang junction, corresponding to different quantities of flow, and discussed the flow conditions for navigation at the entrance area of the approach channels [9]. Dian Guang Ma et al combined the physical model with the ship model to study the navigation flow conditions and navigation mechanism to tackle the problem that the navigation flow conditions in the downstream entrance area and the linkage section of the lock are poor and it is difficult for the ship to enter the port [10].…”

“…Navigable tunnels are usually set in curved rivers with complex flow patterns and uneven velocity distribution. Because the navigable flow in restricted waters has the characteristics of high wave and rapid velocity, the navigation process of ships is vulnerable to have many adverse effects on the buildings and facilities on both sides of the river, the sediment of rivers and its own navigation stability [17][18][19][20][21]. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the characteristics of navigable flow conditions under the condition of navigable tunnel and study effective measures to improve the navigable flow conditions at the entrance of approach channel of navigable tunnel in steep bay section.…”

“…It is a low head and daily regulation electric station giving priority to generate electricity and in addition to improve shipping. The navigation structure [1] is consist of upper approach, water retaining dam, middle navigable channel, head bay, lock basin, tail-bay, lower approach. Its total length is 1268m.…”
