The Role of Platelets in Chronic Urticaria

Abstract: Background: Platelets are implicated in many pathophysiological processes, including inflammation and immunity. Ever-growing evidence suggests the active involvement of platelets in the pathogenesis of various inflammatory disorders, including cutaneous inflammatory diseases. A limited number of studies have investigated the role of platelets in chronic urticaria (CU). In this review, we summarize the current knowledge regarding the role of platelets in chronic spontaneous and inducible urticarias. Methods: A … Show more

“…), se ha considerado como un marcador de la activación con cambios en el VPM. 8,9,24 Sin embargo, hasta donde se sabe, aún no se ha investigado la función de los trombocitos en los pacientes con PAIPD. En nuestro estudio, se determinó que el VPM y el VPR en los pacientes con PAIPD estaban significativamente elevados.…”

“…Despite the fact that coagulation is enhanced in chronic urticaria, the data on the role of platelets in the pathogenesis of CU are limited and conflicting [63]. As blood levels of NO x and nitrate are significantly higher in CSU patients compared to healthy controls, and correlate with disease activity, a pathogenic role of nitrosative stress has been suggested [64].…”

“…), it has been considered as a marker of activation with MPV changes. 8,9,24 However, as far as we know, the role of platelets in cases with FPIAP has not been investigated, yet. In our study, MPV and PCT values in cases with FPIAP were determined to be significantly high.…”
