“…Parallels between religion and metal music culture have been drawn before. For example, metal musicians have been likened to shamans for their role in providing transcendent experiences to members of the metal music community (Weinstein, 1991: 88); metal fans use terminology consistent with transcendent religious experiences in their descriptions of live music (Coggins, 2016); and metal culture affirms a shared worldview and identity, which is shaped by a selection of attire, tattoos, dancing in a metal style (Snell & Hodgetts, 2007), and dressing in a 'uniform' way even outside of metal cultural events (Guibert & Guibert, 2016).…”

“…Dominguez-Nicolas developed the first custom-designed LF-ThMS device (Mexican patent pending by Dominguez-Nicolas SM, 2020) to modulate alternating current in a coil pair to generate low magnetic flux densities and magnetic hyperthermia for COVID-19 patients. Previous patents and experimental studies also induce magnetic hyperthermia, [21–24] but they reach up to 71 °C (160 °F), not suitable for our application. Instead, we employed an electronic circuit in our LF-ThMS device to limit the temperature and magnetic flux density levels up to 44 °C and 13.1 mT for safe use in the dorsal thorax of COVID-19 patients.…”

Fans of such music featuring violent themes tend to be very committed and intense in their fandom, report strong social bonds with other fans, and often experience positive emotional outcomes from their listening experiences (Guibert & Guibert, 2016; Olsen et al, 2022). Such intense fandom may be, in part, because these same musical genres often elicit strong negative reactions from many, but not all, nonfans of this music.…”
