The temperature effect on the performance of a traction asynchronous motor

Abstract: The faults and damages of the asynchronous motors currently used in the traction rolling stock are reviewed. It is shown that a significant number of failures in operation are due to the excessive temperature in the stator coil and how it affects the mechanical characteristics and the traction performance of the asynchro nous motor windings.
