The underground organ microbial complexes of moorland spotted orchid Dactylorhiza maculata (L.) Soó (Orchidaceae)

Abstract: This paper is focused on the first study of microbiota of a moderate climate orchid from Northern hemisphere-Moorland Spotted Orchid Dactylorhiza maculata (L.) Soó growing in its natural habitat. There have been obtained detailed data concerning bacterial communities from rhizosphere and inner tissues of young and old tubers. It was done using the biomarker analysis method where the markers were detected by gas chromatography-mass-spectrometry. It is shown that the number of bacterial genera and the bacteria a… Show more

“…The plates were incubated in a thermostat at +28 °C for 72 hours. After the incubation, the optical density of the solutions was measured photometrically at 510 nm wavelength, and the array of functional biodiversity indexes of the microbial community studied was calculated using the Eco-Log software [48],[49]. The water used for the dilution preparation was simultaneously examined as control.…”

“…In fact, Pseudomonas , Burkholderia and Sphingomonas are widely distributed in other Dendrobium plants, Orchidaceae and other habitat environments. For example, Pseudomonas was reported to exist in dendrobium plants, such as Dendrobium moschatum and Dendrobium crumenatum [ 36 , 37 ], and many orchid plants, including epipactis species [ 38 ], Dactylorhiza maculate [ 39 ], Paphiopedilum appletonianum [ 40 ], Acampe papillosa [ 41 ] and Phalaenopsis spp. [ 42 ].…”

“…An additional element impacting the orchid-mycorrhizal symbiosis, is the effect bacteria have on the mycorrhizal role of seed germination. This topic has received some attention but is still an emerging area of research (Shekhovtsova, Marakaev, Pervushina, & Osipov, 2013;Wilkinson, Dixon, & Sivasithamparam, 1989).…”
