Teaching vocabulary to young learners is an essential aspect of language acquisition that requires a specific approach or strategy to ensure that learners acquire a wide range of vocabulary. Expanding vocabulary is a critical aspect of language learning as it equips learners with the learning tools to confidently articulate their thoughts and ideas in the target language. Developing vocabulary also enables learners to grasp complex concepts and ideas. One technique that has proven effective in language classes is the presentation-practice route. In light of this, the purpose of this study is to describe the teaching techniques employed by English teachers at Genius International School in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, when using the presentation-practice route to teach English vocabulary. The study adopted a descriptive research methodology, with data collection conducted through interviews and observations of English teachers at the school. Qualitative analysis was used to analyze the data collected from the respondents. The study's findings revealed that the teachers employed several techniques to encourage learners' mastery of vocabulary, including contextualization, the use of visual aids, and the incorporation of interactive activities. These techniques were found to be effective in facilitating learners' comprehension and retention of English vocabulary.

The purpose of the article is to substantiate the important characteristics of a foreign language as an educational subject for the creation of special problem situations that contribute to the effective assimilation of foreign language material. The specific objectives include: to analyze types of activity simulations used in the English language classroom; to conduct teachers survey and to reveal the peculiarities of using activity simulations; to develop the algorithm of using activity simulations in the English language classroom. During the educational research we use the following methods: literature review, open-ended survey, observation, content analysis, interview. The research was conducted in the first semester of 2022-2023 academic year and involved 156 teachers of English language of different higher educational institutions throughout the country. The findings showed that brainstorming, education discussion, round table, project-based technology, analysis of real-life situations, and simulation exercise are used most effective in the process of teaching a foreign language. They bring a number of advantages like engagement of students, formation of real-life experience, language practice, improvement of communication, improvement of collaboration, efficient organization of individualized learning, and motivation enhancement.. The research resulted in elaboration of recommendations for the teaching staff of higher educational institutions to use activity simulations in the classroom.

Spelling Bee Games to Increase Students’ Vocabulary Mastery at the Islamic-Affiliated Middle Schools: An Action Research

Spelling bee game can be considered as a method to teach vocabulary mastery for junior high school using a game. The students not only memorize the words abut also can spell and pronounce them correctly. There are problems faced by the students particularly the seventh grade students of this research location such as the difficulty to understand the form of English words and to pronounce them. The objective of this research was to solve those problems in order to increase the students’ mastery of vocabulary by applying spelling bee game. The research method used was a classroom action research by fulfilling planning, acting, observing, and reflecting in each cycle. It was accomplished in two cycles since the determined achievement was not obtained in the first cycle. The subject involved was 35 students of grade seventh. Qualitative data were gathered by administering interview, observation, and questionnaire while quantitative data were obtained from students’ vocabulary mean score. The qualitative data analysis from questionnaire showed that there was increasing of positive responses (23.97%) while observation and interview showed that the students were more motivated in engaging the teaching-learning process through spelling bee game. The quantitative data analysis showed that there was increasing on students’ vocabulary mastery seen from the increasing of mean score from 25.07% in orientation test to 88.57% in post-test cycle II. There were 31 students in post-test cycle II passed the criteria. Thus, the criteria of success were achieved. It can be concluded that using spelling bee game can be an alternative method to increase the vocabulary mastery in an enjoyable and fun atmosphere.
