The use of the ferrous sulphate dosimeter for intercomparison of absorbed dose from electron beams

Abstract: An intercomparison of absorbed dose from high-energy electron beams using Fricke dosimetry at four radiotherapy centers in the north of Taiwan is described. Two water phantoms of 30 X 30 X 30 cm3 and a number of Fricke dosimeters were used at each center. The dosimeters were irradiated to an absorbed dose of approximately 45 Gy (4500 rad) at different electron energies. The measurements, calibration procedures, and the factors affecting the response of the dosimeters are discussed. The results of the intercomp… Show more

“…For example, conical epidermal cells contained significantly more anthocyanin and other flavonoids than flat epidermal cells in Antirrhinum petals [ 51 ]. In transgenic Arabidopsis plants, overexpression of PsMYB114L and of PsMYB12L caused a significantly higher accumulation of anthocyanins, resulting in purple-red leaves [ 52 ]. In Phalaenopsis orchids, PeMYB11 -silencing resulted in the loss of anthocyanin content with flower colors fading from dark-purple to pink [ 2 ].…”

“…The Fricke dosimeter has been used for many applications [7][8][9][10][11][12]. This application is based on some good characteristics such as dose rate independence, near waterequivalence and energy-independent response for radiotherapy clinical accelerator beams.…”

“…The concentration of Fe +3 , which is generally determined through spectrophotometry, is directly proportional to the absorbed dose of ionizing radiation. The Fricke dosimeter has been used for many applications such as experimental k Q photon beam quality correction factors measurements, dosimetry of low energy protons and light ions, intercomparison of absorbed dose to water measurements, output calibration in teletherapy machines with photons and electrons and quality assurance of HDR brachytherapy source [6][7][8][9][10][11]. This application is based on some good characteristics such as dose rate independence, water-equivalence and energyindependent response for radiotherapy clinical accelerator beams.…”
