The usefulness of plateletcrit to predict cardiac syndrome X in patients with normal coronary angiogram

Abstract: IntroductionCardiac syndrome X (CSX) is a clinical entity defined as the triad of typical angina pectoris on exercise, electrocardiographic or metabolic findings of ischemia and normal epicardial coronary arteries. Platelets, whose amount in the blood is indicated with plateletcrit (PCT), play an important role in inflammatory and thrombotic processes and the physiopathology of cardiovascular events.AimTo investigate the association between cardiac syndrome X and PCT and platelet count.Material and methodsA to… Show more

“…They considered that long-term follow-up of PCT levels in patients with coronary tortuosity (CorT) with regard to the development of CAD may be useful. Oylumlu et al 13 suggest that high PCT is associated with presence of cardiac syndrome X in patients with normal coronary arteries.…”

“…Especially in the early onset of ischemic disease. An important point in practice [28][29][30]. Consuming the activated platelets will eventually reduce the MPV value, which explains the controversy in both studies [25,26].…”

“…It is a part of the routine complete blood count (6). The associations and long term prognostic value of PCT have been reported in stable coronary artery disease (7), STsegment (STEMI) (8) and non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) (6), cardiac syndrome X (9). Moreover, clinical utility of PCT has been reported in both coronary slow flow phenomenon and saphenous vein graft disease (10,11).…”
