Therapeutic Effect of Polysaccharide of Large Yellow Croaker Swim Bladder on Lupus Nephritis of Mice

Abstract: The therapeutic effect of polysaccharide of large yellow croaker swim bladder (PLYCSB) on lupus nephritis has been studied in vivo. A high concentration (50 mg/kg dose) of PLYCSB reduced the levels of serum inflammatory cytokine levels of IL-6, IL-12, TNF-α and IFN-γ compared to a low concentration (25 mg/kg dose) and control mice. SCr, BUN, TC and TG serum levels of PLYCSB treated mice were lower than those of control mice, and TP and ALB serum levels were higher than control mice. Control mice tested ds-DNA … Show more

“…During the inflammatory response, the increase in leukocyte infiltration has been hypothesized to be the primary cause of tissue injury and disease progression (15)(16)(17). However, consistent with other inflammatory diseases, LN leads to increased permeability, which implicates the role of activated NF-κB in the disease (18)(19)(20)(21)(22). Inhibition of NF-κB activation has been demonstrated to be responsible for the suppression of renal tubulo-interstitial injury induced by proteinuria.…”

“…Hyperlipidemia, proteinuria, Scr, BUN, blood albumin and protein are endpoints of chronic kidney disease. 21,[24][25][26] Albumin, the most prevalent serum protein, contributes to the cure of edema caused by nephropathy. 26 Low serum level of albumin is the manifestation of poor renal function.…”

“…Recently, swim bladder has been shown to alleviate various inflammatory conditions, and it may also augment the function of platelets, capillary vessels and clotting factors ( 11 ). Polysaccharides are the main component of swim bladder; however, few studies have investigated the polysaccharides of the swim bladder, and these studies showed that polysaccharides of the swim bladder posses anti-inflammatory effects ( 12 , 13 ). To the best of our knowledge, the present study was the first to investigate the anticancer effect of apoptosis induction by PLCSB in vitro.…”
