Show more

“…The distorted octahedral complexes Tp*WS(OPh) 2 and Tp*WS(SePh) 2 contain a terminal sulfido ligand, two monodentate OPh or SePh ligands, and a facial, terdentate Tp* ligand. The W–S1 distances of 2.161(1) and 2.128(2) Å, respectively, are typical of {WS} 3+ units in WSCl 3 (MeSCH 2 CH 2 SMe) at 2.146(11) Å, [WSCl 4 ] − at 2.064(5) Å, and Tp*WS{S 2 C 2 (CO 2 Me) 2 } at 2.108(3) Å . For Tp*WS(OPh) 2 , the W–O2 and W–O3 distances are 1.938(3) and 1.971(2) Å, and the associated W–O–C angles are 149.2(3)° and 132.9(2)°, respectively.…”

“…An unstable bis(dithiolene)-Mo(V) complex, NEt 4 [MoS(S 2 C 6 H 8 ) 2 ], has also been reported but its isolation was thwarted by rapid dimerization . Very few mononuclear sulfido-W(V) complexes are known; they include structurally characterized WSCl 3 (MeSCH 2 CH 2 SMe), PPh 4 [WSCl 4 ], and Tp*WS{S 2 C 2 (CO 2 Me) 2 } …”

“…8,35 Rather surprisingly, attempts to isolate the (unknown) anion, [WSeCl 5 ] − with a range of cations, including [PPh 4 ] + and [NEt 4 ] + , have been unsuccessful thus far, whereas the [WSCl 5 ] − and [WS 2 Cl 4 ] 2− ions are well known. 36,37…”

“…In this paper we describe a new, more efficient and controllable approach using the tungsten(VI) tetrachloridedisulfide dianion, [WS2Cl4] 2-, specifically designed to overcome this problem, while providing the required 1:2 tungsten: sulfur ratio in order to eliminate the requirements for a proton source. 18 The IR spectrum of the new [NEt4]2[WS2Cl4] salt (Fig. S2 ESI) contains a strong band at 498 cm -1 assigned as ν(W=S), but a cation absorption obscures this region in the spectrum of [PPh4]2[WS2Cl4].…”
