Thrombocytopenia in Adults: Review Article

Abstract: Thrombocytopenia is the result of falling the number of platelet from 150,000/microL. There are three main reasons of thrombocytopenia, a-Decreasing of making platelet b-Increasing of destruction platelet c-Changing of distribution platelet.

“…The rHuTPO is a glycosylated molecule having a similar amino acid sequence to endogenous TPO, whereas PEGrHuMGDF is a non-glycosylated molecule that contains first 163 amino acids of endogenous TPO and is coupled to polyethylene glycol (Kaushansky, 1998;Erkurta et al, 2012). Both the proteins, rHuTPO and PEG-rHuMGDF, have been identified as potent stimulators of platelet production in humans.…”

“…Abnormal platelet distribution [7] Symptoms Platelet count of \100,000/ll generally leads to prolonged bleeding time. Clinical manifestations are considered to be mild until the platelet count is above 20,000/ll; often limited to easy bruising.…”

“…If the platelet count decreases below 150,000/ll, it causes thrombocytopenia. The causes for thrombocytopenia include (i) reduced production of platelets (ii) increased destruction of platelets (iii) altered distribution of platelets [6,7].…”
