“…Despite the advantages of debridement, adequate debridement must always precede the application of topical wound healing agents, dressings, or wound closure procedures. 1,6,7,9,10 We planned this study with the view to compare wound healing in diabetic patients with use of adjuvant TOPOX with conventional methods and conventional methods alone in our hospital. This study may provide recommendations to benefit patients regarding their early healing and decrease morbidity.…”

“…Microcapsules size and H 2 O 2 loading increases as the molecular weight of the PMMA increases. Controlled production of O 2 is achievable with H 2 O 2 -loaded PMMA microcapsules that can be used for topical oxygenation for a period of 24 h. A gram of dry microcapsules produces a total of 10-12 cc of O 2 in 24 h. This O 2 delivery rate is approximately one to two orders of magnitude higher than the typical skin O 2 consumption (Roe et al, 2010). The H 2 O 2 -loaded PMMA microcapsules also have potential applications as anti-microbial agents.…”

“…Oxygen plays multiple roles in wound healing including bacterial killing, promotion of wound resurfacing, proliferation of fibroblasts, etc. Recent studies have shown that topical oxygen delivery devices can effectively deliver oxygen into and through the viable human skin, which significantly enhances the wound healing rate (Roe et al, 2010). However, the foremost challenge in oxygen therapy is the delivery of oxygen in a defined rate for extended periods of time (Harrison et al, 2007).…”

“…One must consider the fundamental challenge of transforming topical gaseous oxygen to its dissolved form enabling the oxygen to be biologically available to cells. For example, it has been demonstrated recently that devices which deliver topical dissolved oxygen are more effective at delivering oxygen through viable skin samples than topical gaseous oxygen devices [38].…”
