Transcriptome sequencing identifies genes associated with invasion of ovarian cancer

Abstract: Objective To identify key genes in ovarian cancer using transcriptome sequencing in two cell lines: MCV152 (benign ovarian epithelial tumour) and SKOV-3 (ovarian serous carcinoma). Methods Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between SKOV-3 and MCV152 were identified. Candidate genes were assessed for enrichment in gene ontology function and Kyoto Encyclopaedia of Genes and Genomes pathway. Candidate gene expression in SKOV-3 and MCV152 cells was validated using Western blots. Results A total of 2020 upregula… Show more

“…The mutation frequency of LAMC2 is 12% in OC and LAMC2 expression is upregulated in OC tissues. LAMC2 expression was upregulated in SKOV-3 (ovarian serous carcinoma cell line) compared with MCV152 (benign ovarian epithelial tumor line)[ 36 ]. LAMC2 expression upregulation was also confirmed in OC tissues and cells.…”

“…And COL4A2 expression had the most significantly positive correlations with the existence of macrophages and dendritic cell in cervical cell carcinoma [8]. COL4A3 is up-regulated in ovarian cancer [40]. And COL4A3 was an angiogenesis related gene of kidney renal clear cell carcinoma [41].…”

“…This process, driven by TGF/COL6A1 signaling, promotes cell metastasis, invasion, and migration [ 38 ]. In ovarian cancer cells, COL6A1 has been identified as an effector gene that promotes invasion and metastasis [ 39 , 40 ]. The upregulation of COL6A1 and TGFB1 expression in a hypoxic microenvironment may enhance cell proliferation [ 41 ].…”
