“…In addition to Mn 2+ -and Fe 2+ -sulfite trihydrates, a number of hydrous M 2+ -sulfite compounds (M = Mg, Zn, Co, Ca, Cu, etc) have also been synthesized, including several Zn-sulfites, such as ZnSO3•2½H2O, ZnSO3•2H2O, ZnSO3•½H2O, and ZnSO3, (e.g., Lutz et al, 1977;Inoue et al, 1999;Lagosz and Malolepszy, 2003;Giorgi et al, 2011).…”

“…The highest closed porosity of alumina sol‐treated CaO granules because the reaction product layer was formed around the external CaO grains as a protective layer, which reduced the apparent porosity of CaO granules and was beneficial for its hydration resistance. Meanwhile, it is noted that the hydration of C 3 A in the presence of Ca(OH) 2 was retarded by an impermeable C 4 AH x coating around the C 3 A grains which retarded water diffusion to the anhydrous surface 29,30 . Impurities in the raw material, like Fe 2 O 3 and MgO, might enter the crystal lattice of C 3 A during the sintering process that retarded the hydration of C 3 A 23,31,32 .…”

“…It was also re ported as one of the com po nents of the Ro man ce ment (Adamski et al, 2009). Monosulphite is also a prod uct of ce ment hydration (in cementitious sys tems, sulphite ions are of ten ob served when sulphuric sources are avail able; £agosz and Ma³olepszy, 2003;Suh et al, 2019). Unreacted and unhydrated com po nents of Roman ce ments (in good qual ity ce ments pres ent only in very small quan ti ties) -cal cium sil i cates: b-belite (b-C 2 S; as less re ac tive then a'-belite), gehlenite (C 2 AS) and wollastonite (CS) can be labelled as Ro man ce ment fin ger print phases (Adamski et al, 2009;Koz³owski et al, 2010).…”
