Tunable dual-band perfect metamaterial absorber based on a graphene-SiC hybrid system by multiple resonance modes

Abstract: We propose dynamically tunable dual-band perfect absorption of light in a composite structure, which consists of a graphene ribbon array coated on a dielectric layer, a silicon carbide (SiC) film and a distributed Bragg reflector (DBR). Two absorption peaks reaching 98.8% at 10.87 μm and 97.5% at 12.4 μm are observed in the hybrid structure. The dual-band absorption enhancement can be explained by two different mechanisms: one is attributed to the graphene localized surface plasmons (GLSP), and the other is or… Show more

“…and the optical absorption is calculated using A = 1 − |Г| 2 [42] to give: Figure 2A gives the absorption spectra of the cross-circle graphene absorbers and single-structure absorbers at a normal incidence. Undoubtedly, the cross-circle absorber significantly improved the absorption of graphene in the near-infrared region.…”

“…Furthermore, the critical coupling induced by GMRs and OTSs can be illustrated by the coupled mode theory (CMT) [23], in which the spectral characteristics of the single-port structure with lossy medium loaded can be analytically interpreted [24]. The time domain evolution equation of the two resonant modes with each resonant frequency at ω i is governed by [14]:…”

“…For this case, some hybrid systems with multiple resonant modes have been proposed. Qing [14]et al achieved tunable dual-band perfect absorption in a composite structure consists of a graphene ribbon array and a distributed Bragg reflector. Cai [15]et al implemented a dual-band graphenebased absorber combining the magnetic resonance with a cold mirror.…”

“…[18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26] Dual-band metamaterial absorbers were also demonstrated using the stacked structural design methods. [27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34] Other structural designs were also suggested to achieve the dual-band absorption performance, including cuboid ferrite particle, 35 circular sector resonator, 36 graphene-SiC hybrid system, 37 cylinder MoS 2dielectric array, 38 and asymmetric double-split ring resonators. 39 Although various kinds of structures have been proposed to achieve dual-band absorption, there are still many similar shortcomings in these designs, which limit their practical application to a certain extent.…”
