The new metavanadate [Cu(H 2 O)(C 5 H 14 N 2 ) 2 ][VO 3 ] 2 (C 5 H 14 N 2 is 2,2-dimethylpropyldiamine) (1) was synthesized under solvothermal conditions. The compound crystallizes in the rhombohedral space group R3m with a ϭ 28.6984 (15), c ϭ 6.4309 (3), V ϭ 4586.9(4) Å 3 , Z ϭ 9. The main structural motifs are helical metavanadate {VO 3 } n nϪ chains made by corner-sharing [VO 4 ] 3Ϫ tetrahedra and [Cu(H 2 O)(C 5 H 14 N 2 ) 2 ] 2ϩ complexes with the Cu 2ϩ ion being in a distorted square-pyramidal coordination environment. The complexes are located between left-and right-
