Dr. W. H e s s wirkt Chromo… Show more

“…In the filtrate from the phosphate precipitation cobalt and nickel might perhaps be collected as sulfides at a pH of about 5, but the authors prefer to obtain cobalt at once with nitrosonaphthol (6). The cobalt precipitate is ignited and weighed as Co304 if sufficient in quantity.…”

“…Kuzirian (4) proposed that the silica be treated with sulfuric acid prior to ignition; however, the sulfates thus formed are at least partially decomposed to silicates during the subsequent ignition. Pertusi and Di Nola (7) evaporated a hydrofluoric acid mixture to dryness, and then added oxalic acid to convert the fluorides to oxalates; in contradiction to the experiments of Noyes and Bray (6) they imply that the loss of titanium is not serious. Because of the apparent limitations in these methods and of incomplete evidence as to their effectiveness, a study of processes for carrying out the correction of the silica precipitate has been made.…”

“…Diazotization is used not only to detect nitrite ions, but also to prepare analytical reagents for many ions, and in technology (dye industry) as well. Only six years later, Ilinski and Knorre [3] proposed 1-nitroso-2-naphthol for the detection of cobalt (later known as Ilinski reagent), and 20 years later, Tschugaev proposed dimethylglyoxime as a new analytical reagent for nickel [4]. A feature of the above reagents is their increasing value rather than their considerable age.…”
