Background: The causative factor of failure in the treatment of the root canal is the presence of microorganisms, namely the bacterium Enterococcus faecalis. Rambai leaf extract (Sonneratia caseolaris) also contains secondary metabolite compounds, namely, triterpenoids, phenols, tannins, steroids, and flavonoids that are able to inhibit the growth of Enterococcus faecalis bacteria which have the potential to cause failure in root canal treatment. Purpose: This research has a purpose to see the antibacterial activity of Rambai leaf extract (Sonneratia caseolaris) concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% against Enterococcus faecalis bacteria. Method: This study is a true experimental study designed by Posttest Only with Control Group Design using six. Material and methods: Rambai leaf extract concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, positive control of chlorhexidine gluconate 2%, and negative control of aqua dest was repeated 4 times. Antibacterial activity can be seen from the magnitude of the inhibitory zone formed in (MHA) Mueller Hinton Agar and BHIB (Brain Heart Infusion) using the diffusion method. Results: Based on Mann Whitney's final test, there was a significant difference in the clear zones formed around the paper disk. The average clear zone of Rambai leaf extract (Sonneratia caseolaris) concentration is 25% at 10.0mm, 50% at 12.7mm, 75% at 17.0mm, and 100% at 18.3mm. Conclusion: There is activity of Rambai leaf extract (Sonneratia caseolaris) concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% against Enterococcus faecalis bacteria. Propionibacterium acnes is a gram-positive bacterium that causes acne. This study aimed to determine the antibacterial activity of the ethanolic extract of purple passion fruit peel (Passiflora edulis Sims) against Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. The method used to determine the antibacterial activity of the ethanolic extract of passion fruit peel was a paper disc (Kirby-Bauer test). Based on the results of phytochemical screening, the purple passion fruit peel simplicia powder contains flavonoid compounds, saponins, tannins, steroids, and triterpenoids that function as antimicrobials. Based on the antibacterial activity test, the purple passion fruit peel ethanol extract at concentrations of 5, 10, 15, and 20% effectively inhibited the growth of Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. This can be proven from the results of the diameter of the inhibition zone that there was an increase in antibacterial effectiveness along with the increase in the concentration of purple passion fruit peel extract in inhibiting the growth of Propionibacterium acnes bacteria, namely at a concentration of 5%, the average diameter of the inhibition zone was 14.9 mm, then at a concentration of 10% the average diameter of the inhibition zone is 15.3 mm, then at a concentration of 15% the average diameter of the inhibition zone is 17.2 mm, while at a maximum concentration of 20% the average diameter of the inhibition zone is 20.1 mm. The research results conclude that the purple passion fruit rind ethanol extract effectively inhibits the growth of Propionibacterium acnes bacteria at a concentration of 20% with an inhibition zone diameter of 20.1 mm.

The appearance of bacterial resistance and pathogenic infections makes efforts to find new drugs as natural bacterial agents continue. One of them is through the utilization of marine organisms such as seaweed. Some studies show the content of seaweed bioactive compounds has potential in the pharmacological field. This study aims to determine the type of secondary metabolite compounds and antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of Ulva intestinalis. Seaweed extraction using the maceration method for 3 x 24 hours and antibacterial activities were tested by disc diffusion method. The results showed that there were 5 types of secondary metabolite compounds in the extract, namely alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, saponins, and steroids. The antibacterial activity test of seaweed extract against Propionibacterium acnes and Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria in the concentration range of 50% to 100% showed a moderate inhibition zone diameter
