Uji Aktivitas Antibakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Salmonella typhi dari Hasil Mikroenkapsulasi Minyak Atsiri Rogo (Premna Serratifolia Linn)

Abstract: Antibacterial activity test Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhihas been performed by microencapsulation product of rogo essential oil (Premnaserratifolia Linn). “…Khairunnisa et al [31] listed several bioactive compounds of P. serratifolia extracts, including flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and triterpenoids/steroids, which exhibit both in vitro and in vivo biological activities, such as antioxidant, antiarthritic, anticholesterol, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antihelmintic, antidiabetic, and anticancer/cytotoxic activity. The antibacterial activity of P. serratifolia essential oil against S. aureus and S. typhi showed weak inhibition wherein the diameter of the clear zone was 4.6 mm for S. aureus and 4.7 mm for S. typhi, at a concentration of 100% [32]. Major bioactive compounds such as phytol (27.25%), α-humulene (14.21%), spathulenol (12.12%), 1-octen-3-ol (8.21%), eugenol (6.69%), and phenyl ethyl alcohol (5.81%) were reported by Rahman et al [49] from Premna integrifolia Linn extracts, which displayed great potential of antibacterial activity against Sarcina lutea, B. subtilis, E. coli, Pseudomonas sp., K. pneumoniae, and Xanthomonas campestries with their respective zones of inhibition of 12.0 ± 1.2 to 22.1 ± 1.2 mm and MIC values of 62.5-250 µg mL −1 .…”
