Ultraflexible and High-Performance Multilayer Transparent Electrode Based on ZnO/Ag/CuSCN

Abstract: Driven by huge demand for flexible optoelectronic devices, high-performance flexible transparent electrodes are continuously sought. In this work, a flexible multilayer transparent electrode with the structure of ZnO/Ag/CuSCN (ZAC) is engineered, featuring inorganic solution-processed cuprous thiocyanate (CuSCN) as a hole-transport antireflection coating. The ZAC electrode exhibits an average transmittance of 94% (discounting the substrate) in the visible range, a sheet resistance ( R) of 9.7 Ω/sq, a high mech… Show more

“… 41 During the process, the BH 4− radical is responsible for transferring hydrogen to Ag NPs and ZnO NPs, and hence resulting in a reaction that forms two intermediates: an unstable 4-nitrosophenol and a stable 4-hydroxylaminophenol. 42 The as-formed 4-hydroxylaminophenol is further activated to produce the final product 4-AP, which is visualized by the color changes from a yellow-green color to transparent. The amounts of active sites are normally considered the rate-determining step.…”

“…In order to ensure the flexibility of the flexible pressure sensor, the materials used are all inherently flexible or are made into low-dimensional materials to achieve the purpose of flexibility. The commonly used flexible substrate materials are PDMS [ 13 , 42 , 43 ], PI [ 38 , 44 ], PU [ 45 ], PET [ 39 , 46 ], and other polymer materials. This is due to the fact that these polymer materials have stable performance and long polymer chains making the material tough and strong while ensuring flexibility.…”

“…Materials with high transmittance and adequate electrical conductivity are desired in such applications [29]; therefore, the most commonly used material is indium tin oxide (ITO) due to its good optical and electrical properties (e.g., transmittance~80% at visible wavelength and low sheet resistance <40 Ω/sq) [30]. However, ITO is brittle by nature limiting flexible applications [31] and presents~75% indium in its composition, which might hamper display and optoelectronic uses due to its scarcity and increasing cost [32] [33][34][35][36]. However, some transparent electrodes have complicated structures or require complex processing, demanding the search for new strategies to produce transparent conductive materials at low-cost and with a compatible upscale production.…”
