Parasitic diseases hamper progress in underdeveloped nations, compromising child physical and cognitive development. In order to control intestinal parasites, the popularization of science may enable prophylactic measures. Questionnaires were used to assess the students' knowledge, attitudes and practices. Health fairs were held as an educational tool and subsequently questionnaires on parasitic diseases and prevention were administered. Stool examinations were performed and infected students were treated. Prevalence of Entamoeba histolytica/ dispar, Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura was 7.1%, 5% and 3.5% respectively in the Anísio Teixeira Institute students and 7.2%, 8%, 3.6% in the Raymundo Matta School students in a suburb. The students at both schools displayed limited knowledge on parasitic disease prevention. The school participation in the prophylaxis of parasitic diseases, was not acknowledged by the students. Reviewing curricula is required, addressing themes related to health, possibly establishing partnerships with health services, universities and/or research centers with the effective involvement of the community performing articulated actions in different health districts, so that education will lead to community empowerment in regard to quotidian issues and improving public health conditions.

As atividades de educação em saúde no ambiente escolar são práticas de promoção da saúde indutoras de processos de transformação coletiva que incidem sobre as condições de vida da população. Este estudo objetiva analisar a percepção dos pais/responsáveis de escolas de ensino fundamental público quanto à participação dos acadêmicos universitários em ações de educação em saúde do Programa de Educação pelo Trabalho para Saúde (PET). Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa e descritiva, realizada mediante aplicação de questionários a pais/responsáveis de escolares de seis a 14 anos em duas escolas de ensino fundamental públicas. Foram aplicados cem questionários que levantaram dados sobre a participação dos acadêmicos em atividades de educação em saúde e sua contribuição para a formação dos profissionais de saúde. A análise dos dados foi realizada seguindo-se o referencial da análise de conteúdo. Os resultados da pesquisa permitem afirmar que os pais/responsáveis pelos escolares avaliam que as atividades de educação em saúde desenvolvidas por acadêmicos nas escolas contribuíram para a melhoria da qualidade de atenção à saúde na comunidade escolar e para a formação do futuro profissional de saúde.

Spínola RM. The construction of a manual of pedagogical techniques for oral health education and the creation of a repository of educational projects [dissertation]. São Paulo: Universidade de São Paulo, Faculdade de Odontologia; 2020. Versão Original. This Master's dissertation brings a quanti-qualitative study on the form and content of 217 educational projects in oral health, carried out by students in the technical course in oral health at the Municipal School of Professional Education and Public Health. Makiguti in São Paulo City Hall, in various social spaces with several pedagogical techniques. The study supported the writing of the educational product Manual of Pedagogical Techniques for Education in Oral Health and the Educational Projects Repository. It is a descriptive field research with bibliographic analysis of quantitative nature and with direct and indirect observation of qualitative nature. The quantitative research had its origin from the bibliographic analysis of the records of these educational projects present in term of papers contained in the School library. The qualitative study evaluated the pedagogical techniques used in terms of their facilities and difficulties of execution. It was carried out based on the experience of the researcher who observed and supervised the educational actions. The quantitative research revealed that the majority of educational projects were carried out in public schools for children aged 0 to 14 years old and for this same target audience for children outside school equipment. The educational projects were carried out with teenagers, youth, adults and the elderly people. The most used pedagogical conception was sociocultural. The pedagogical techniques used prioritized playfulness, with scavenger hunts and other games. Problematizing conversation circles and lectures were used also. The study concluded that educational projects were important for the training of students and for the discussion with the population of the most important topics related to the prevention of oral diseases. Furthermore, it concluded that the experimentation of various pedagogical techniques enables an educational practice closer to the reality and subjects experience.
