Unified SU(4) theory for the RD(*) and RK

Abstract: We propose a chiral Pati-Salam theory based on the gauge group SU (4) C × SU (2) L × SU (2) R . The left-handed quarks and leptons are unified into a fundamental representation of SU (4) C , while right-handed quarks and leptons have a separate treatment. The deviations measured in the rare semileptonic decays B → D ( * ) τν are explained by a scalar leptoquark which couples to right-handed fields and is contained in the SU (4) C × SU (2) R -breaking scalar multiplet. The measured deviation of lepton flavor un… Show more

“…For example, they are in the spectrum of low-scale quark-lepton unification models à la Pati-Salam (see e.g. [2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]). TeV-scale leptoquarks also appear as pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone bosons of a new strongly interacting dynamics possibly related to the origin of the electroweak symmetry breaking (see e.g.…”

“…However, these missing mass terms can be generated through a modified scalar sector. For example, if χ L ∼ (4, 2, 1) is replaced with χ ∼ (4, 2, 3) then, as was first noted in [16], the missing mass term in the top-right entry of M eE in eq. (4.3), proportional to v L , is generated for the case of an SU(2) R triplet.…”

“…Charged-lepton mixing exclusively will occur with the addition of SU(2) L/R triplets or bidoublets and in the down-sector exclusively with the addition of SU(4) sextets. 16 Mixing will occur in both sectors either through a combination of the aforementioned multiplets or (minimally) with 17 the addition of a pair of SU(4) decuplets or with a pair of SU(4)⊗SU(2) L/R bi-fundamental fermions, though only the former can generate a viable SM fermion mas spectrum.…”

“…In order to reconcile these discrepancies, many models have been proposed. One such type of models have lepton universality violation at tree level by introducing a Z 0 [18][19][20][21][22] or a leptoquark [23][24][25][26][27][28][29], see e.g., Refs. [30][31][32] for recent reviews and references therein.…”
