University students’ intention to use e-learning systems

Abstract: Purpose The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors that might influence the intention and use behaviour of e-learning systems by students in state universities in Sri Lanka. Design/methodology/approach The theoretical model for this study was primarily drawn from unified theory of acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2). Exogenous variables included performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, work life quality, hedonic motivation, internet experience and facilitating condit… Show more

“…Despite the fact that both of them have direct influences, they are insignificant. This fact is dissimilar from previous studies indicating that behavioral intention to use influencing online learning mechanisms has significant values [25,26]. For this reason, depending on such the intention is insufficient as this can create resistance to the implementation of online learning mechanisms.…”

“…In other words, such capabilities fail to motivate user behavioral intention to apply online learning mechanisms. This condition is reinforced by significance test outcomes showing a discrepancy with previous studies, where behavioral intention to use is significant for online learning mechanisms [26,27] and where IT capabilities are significant for behavioral intention to use [28,29]. The findings become crucial contributions reflecting that good behavioral intention to use IT is not always associated with the capabilities to implement or guarantee online learning mechanisms.…”

“…Because E-learning as an electronic learning has a powerful tool that transforms the traditional method of learning (Alfraih, M.M., Alanezi, F.S., 2016). It helped University students' to use E-learning especially in Sri Lanka (Samsudeen, S.N., Mohamed, R., 2019). In Malaysia, Deep, Salleh and Othman (2019) explained from their research to improving soft skills undergraduates through problem-based approaches use E-learning applications.…”
