Update on 10μm pixel pitch MCT-based focal plane array with enhanced functionalities

Abstract: Sofradir was first to show a 10µm focal plane array (FPA) in DSS 2012, and announced the DAPHNIS 10µm product family back in 2014. This pixel pitch is key for enabling more compact sensors and increased resolution. SOFRADIR recently achieved outstanding MTF demonstration at this pixel pitch, which clearly demonstrate the benefit to users of adopting 10µm pixel pitch focal plane array based detectors. The last results, and associated gain in detection performance, are discussed in this paper.Concurrently to pit… Show more

“…In 2012, DEFIR demonstrated for the first time a 10μm pitch FPA. In 2014, SOFRADIR and CEA-LETI developed the famous DAPHNIS digital detector components, DAPHNIS-HD720 and DAPHNIS-XGA, by combining "Small Pixel Pitch" and "HOT" technology [15,45]. The pixel pitch of the ROIC is 10μm and the array size are 1280×720 and 1024×768 respectively.…”

“…The development of the FPA detectors with improved characteristics is underway. New types of FPAs are now making their performance with temperature sensitivity 10 mK 98 and pixel size 10 μm 99 . With this, the image resolution and power sensitivities of the THz-to-IR converters would be correspondingly enhanced.…”

“…FPAs of 1 cm 2 still dominate the IR market, while pixel pitch has decreased to 15 μm during the last few years, now reaching 12 μm [9], 10 μm [10,11], and even 5 μm in test devices [12,13]. This trend is expected to continue.…”
