The preferred learning styles according to the Felder-Soloman method of military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with various military ranks studying English on four-month face-to-face foreign language courses based on the Foreign Languages Education and Research Center of the National Defense University of Ukraine were studied. Active, sensing and visual styles account for approximately 85% of students, while the remaining 15% have reflective, intuitive and verbal styles. The advantage of the sequential over global style is about 75%. No correlation was found between individual learning preferences, the results of the English language entrance test (four tests - listening, writing, reading and speaking), and officer ranks. The method of two-stage cluster analysis shows that respondents form two clusters (Silhouette cluster quality - 0.5-0.6) of approximately the same size according to the level of language proficiency. The most influential factor for cluster formation is the results of listening. Military personnel learning styles were compared with literature data on students' learning styles from 12 fields of study. Two fields (military and natural sciences) demonstrate the preferences toward four styles in all four dimensions; preferences in 2 directions (sensing and visual) and balance in the other two are characteristic of six fields of study. Four other studied fields have a propensity in only one dimension (visual perception of information).

The article foregrounds the need for future military pilots’ professional competence formation taking into consideration the growing amount of armed conflicts. The analysis of the literary sources indicates that scientists are interested in improving the professional training of future military pilots, but not enough attention is paid to the formation of professional competence of these specialists. Our research set a goal to experimentally test the singled out organizational and pedagogical conditions for future military pilots’ professional competence formation (interdisciplinary integration with the goal of future military pilots’ tactical thinking forming; the use of simulator-based training to practice different types of combat flights by future military pilots; making use of operational pilots’ experience and analysis of combat employment of aviation for the purpose of updating air-tactical knowledge and improving air-tactical training of future military pilots) whether they contribute to the effective formation of the abovementioned definition. The experiment involved 227 persons (undergraduate future military pilots (20–22 years old)), the experimental group consisted of 127 persons, the control group made 100 persons. These groups were qualitatively homogeneous at the initial stage of the experiment. The implementation of distinguished organizational and pedagogical conditions into the educational process of higher military educational institutions provided an opportunity to effectively shape the professional competence of future military pilots, which is confirmed by the methods of mathematical statistics. Thus, the conducted scientific search confirms the effectiveness of proposed conditions of future military pilots’ professional competence formation.

Este artículo explora los aspectos pedagógicos y psicológicos de la aplicación de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación en las instituciones de educación militar superior de Ucrania en las circunstancias actuales. Se han mostrado las direcciones prioritarias para desarrollar la educación a distancia a través de las tecnologías de la información, incluyendo la plataforma MOODLE. La investigación identificó los resultados positivos de la aplicación de las tecnologías de la información en la educación bajo restricciones de cuarentena: un aumento de la eficiencia tecnológica de la educación a distancia debido al moderno software y hardware, un mayor nivel de accesibilidad y apertura de la educación, y una mayor individualización de la instrucción. Por otro lado, reveló también las desventajas: los materiales del curso almacenados en bases de datos carecen de una estructura bien organizada y no reflejan el nivel de conocimientos preexistentes de los cadetes; no hay una retroalimentación constante por parte del instructor; debido a la incapacidad de los recursos de Internet para hacer frente a la carga de tráfico que aumenta en la pandemia, son frecuentes los fallos técnicos durante el aprendizaje a distancia; los cadetes no están totalmente preparados para trabajar de forma independiente; aumento de la carga docente de los educadores, debido a la urgente necesidad de diseñar nuevos cursos de educación a distancia; dificultades en el desarrollo de materiales de curso de alta calidad para la educación a distancia; La aplicación de la tecnología de la información a menudo impide tener en cuenta el estado mental y la psicología de los alumnos y, por lo tanto, emplear adecuadamente un enfoque individual de la enseñanza. En general, se llega a la conclusión de que la aplicación de las tecnologías de la información en la situación actual permitió preservar los parámetros básicos del proceso educativo y proporcionó herramientas eficaces para la interacción de los participantes en el proceso educativo.
