User’s determination of a proper method for quantifying fuel consumption of a passenger car with compression ignition engine in specific operation conditions

Abstract: The present research concerns itself with measuring and evaluating fuel consumption of compression ignition engine in passenger cars by a variety of methods and in different operating modes. The main objective is to compare different procedures for the cars’ fuel consumption experimental investigation in the point of view of their accuracy. The measurements were carried out on Citroen Berlingo motor vehicle. The very research is focused on implementing and evaluating the discussed consumption by three differen… Show more

“…Studies point to the fact that emissions can also be affected by the method of measurement. Skrúcaný et al proved this in research, when he monitored the fuel consumption of a road vehicle [49]. It is clear from the research that fuel consumption, as well as emission production, were different when measured in the laboratory and in real driving.…”

“…Motor oil is important for maintaining optimum engine performance [1,2], reducing fuel consumption [3][4][5] and emissions [6]. During its operation in the engine, it is exposed to considerable oxidation, high temperature, pressure and the penetration of unwanted contaminants from external environment.…”
