Vector analysis of pole–pole array for determining the 3D boundary of object

Abstract: A B S T R A C TAn algorithm is proposed for the interpretation of resistivity data that allows the 3D parameters (the boundary in plan view and the depth range) of an anomalous resistivity object in a heterogeneous medium to be determined. The proposed method is based on a vector analysis of the apparent resistivity of soil obtained by a pole-pole survey within the measurement window. In the first stage of the algorithm, in each measurement window, the radius vector is calculated, and as a result, vector image… Show more

“…The basis of the occupation layer within the excavation site is humus loam with inclusions of clay lenses and carbonaceous interlayers. The total thickness of humus layers outside the buried objects does not exceed 0.45 m (Nemtsova et al, 2019): the topsoil horizon reaches 0.3 m and the thickness of the remaining part of the occupation layer does not exceed 0.15 m. The rest areas of Class 2 and Class 3 are associated with natural woody and shrubby vegetation, which is localized in ravines, and secondary herbaceous vegetation on the areas destroyed by ploughing in the late 20th century (northern part of the survey area, Figure 4).…”

“…In front of the inner line of the fortifications and in the outer part of the settlement, the rows had a different orientation: The buildings were located along the defensive structures. Several geophysical anomalies have been verified by excavations (Nemtsova et al, 2019). In particular, in an excavation at the promontory part of the settlement (Figure 2), the buried parts of three structures were revealed.…”
