Virtual Laboratory Implementation To Support High School Learning

Abstract: Learning activities are not limited to the delivery of theory content and evaluation, but they also include some experiment activity in laboratory. Some subjects require experiments activity in the laboratory, i.e. Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. Those subjects demand the educational institution, high school in this occasion, to provide facilities and infrastructure in the form of laboratory equipment in order to support experiment activities. However, the experiment activity currently conducted i… Show more

“…When a student is interested, he can absorb more the material the teacher teaches. Virtual laboratory was well received by students and can be used easily (Hidayat & Utomo, 2015). This laboratory can be operated in the classroom or outside the classroom, as long as there is an internet connection.…”

“…Virtual laboratory are more effective and can improve learning outcomes in chemistry than traditional laboratory use (Alkan & Koçak, 2015). Virtual laboratory can organize a practicum performed by a student and enhance students' conceptions of thaught material (Arista & Kuswanto, 2018;Hidayat & Utomo, 2015). This laboratory with free simulation can be motivate the students in learning process (Popovic & Naumovic, 2016).…”

“…The use of virtual laboratories has the advantage of being able to do it anywhere and anytime and students can do experiments safely if the actual experiments are dangerous. The use of this laboratory is also cheaper compared to real laboratory experiments because it requires relatively expensive tools and materials [10,11]. Previous research has shown that laboratories improve independence and understanding the concepts of learners in learning [12] and virtual laboratories are more effective to use than classical teaching [13].…”

“…While [30] the use of virtual laboratory can improve students' skill in biology education program in using microbiology tools for 45 students taking microbiology courses. [31] Researching on Virtual Laboratory Implementation to Support High School Learning, some subjects require activity in laboratories such as Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. It takes a laboratory tool that can be used anytime and anywhere so as not to interfere with the lesson, virtual lab is a computer application that can be used to experiment with low cost.…”
