Wastewater treatment by conversion of nitrogen-containing pollution by immobilized microbiocenosis in a biodisk installation

Abstract: Experimental works are devoted to research the efficiency of deamonization and de-nitrogenation of wastewater during treatment in a biodisk installation. Working hypothesis - immobilization of the microbiocenosis can provide simultaneous deep treatment of wastewater from organic compounds and inorganic nitrogen-containing compounds. The purpose of this work is to assess the efficiency of purification of highly concentrated organic pollutants and mineralized wastewater from nitrogen compounds in a biodisk insta… Show more

“…The treatment took place within 7.1 minutes. Next, the treated water was added to a biosorption reactor of the aerotank-mixer type [27], where the oxidation of pollutants by the biocenosis immobilized on the reactor disks took place (Fig. 1).…”

“…The main advantage of using immobilized microflora [23,24] in biological purification facilities is the ability to achieve significant, several times higher than in aerotanks with free-floating activated sludge, the concentration of microorganisms per volume unit of facilities. This is especially important when treating highly concentrated wastewater or when there is a bulk contamination.…”

“…The filament growth is the perfect combination of these two growth forms. In fact, filaments (trichomes) are chains of individual cells, which are characterized by almost the same mass exchange as individual cells, and the ability to stay in structures is close to flocs or immobilized biomass [1, 3,6,13,14].…”
