Lake Erenciuc is situated in the Danube Delta (Romania) and was created in the abandoned riverbed of the Sfântu Gheorghe arm. It is the largest meander lake in Romania. During spring–summer, the physico-chemical parameters of water have been measured in seven lake sampling points and one at the Sfântu Gheorghe branch, which supplies the lake through Erenciuc channel. The area around Lake Erenciuc belongs to the category of strictly protected areas within the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve. The following water quality parameters were measured: temperature (T: °C); pH (pH units); Luminescent Dissolved Oxygen (LDO: mg dm−3); Dissolved Oxygen saturation (DO: %); water tension (U: mV); Electrical Conductivity (EC: μS cm−1); Total Dissolved Solids concentration (TDS: mg dm−3). The recorded values are easily differentiated across the entire length of the elongated lake path, especially between inflow (upstream) and outflow (downstream). The parameters recorded during the spring–summer period, with high flow rates and high water levels, demonstrate good lake water quality, especially oxygenation. The study also demonstrates that high waters refresh and recalibrate the water quality in isolated lake basins.

The El-Meita plateau is situated in the south of the city of Khenchela and it is delimited by the Saharan Atlas to the north and Chott Melghir to the south. The agricultural importance and the high productivity of this region are provided by the aggressive use of chemical fertilizers. For this reason, we have decided to conduct this study, considering that all water bodies � superficial waters and groundwaters � record significant amounts of NO3-, NO2-, NH4-, heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn and Hg) and other major chemical elements. The campaign of collecting the 30 water samples took place in the month of May 2016. The chemical analyses were conducted in the Lacip ain-Mlila laboratory in Algeria. Findings show a contamination of groundwater by nitrates and lead; values exceed the maximum limits approved by World Health Organization (WHO). TDS were also found in high concentrations, which limit the use of water for some agricultural cultures, but which can be admissible for certain salinity-resistant species.

In this paper presents the mathematical modelling of the flowing river eutrophication process based on model kinetic equations QUAL2E and developed using Scilab-Xcos program. This can be seen graphically by the evolution over time of: algal mass, organic nitrogen, ammonia, nitrite nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, organic phosphorus, soluble phosphorus, dissolved oxygen concentration and Biochemical oxygen demand for the oxidation of organic substances containing carbon in water of a river, in the case of discharge of a certain wastewater flow untreated, having a certain organic loading.
