Wear evaluation of elements of V-belt transmission with the application of optical microscope

Abstract: The paper presents the analysis of reasons, form and wear of elements of V-belt transmission. Syndromes of loss of driving properties for chosen wheels and V-belts are specified. Methodology of failure evaluation of wheels and V-belts with the application of optical microscope is proposed. The applied measuring set allows for universal analysis of the measurement results. Operation principle of this device and its measuring and analysing abilities are shown. Failures of chosen V-belts and the influence of thes… Show more

“…During the operation of cable gears as a result of damage to machine components or external factors, the belts are exposed to high temperature [ 11 , 12 ]. An example would be seizing and stopping tensioning pulleys or intermediate pulleys, changing the nature of the cooperation between the pulley and the belt from rolling friction to sliding [ 13 ]. The causes of ignition of belts may be mechanical damage to machine elements [ 14 , 15 ], gearbox pollution [ 16 ], or external factors affecting high temperature [ 17 ].…”

“…Electrodes and machine parts should be manufactured from a high-quality semi-product, without the separation of alloyed elements and devoid of shrinkage. This is ensured by the use of numerical methods [18].…”

“…As a consequence, hybrids machining processes, e.g. electro discharge machining (EDM), laser [4], numerical method [11][12][13] and other techniques [14][15][16], are becoming more popular for the MMC machining. The most LAM hot processes still require further investigations to get all optimum parameters.…”
