α-Ag2–2xZnxWO4 (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.25) Solid Solutions: Structure, Morphology, and Optical Properties

Abstract: A theoretical study was elaborated to support the experimental results of the Zn-doped α-AgWO. Theses α-AgZnWO (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.25) solid solutions were obtained by coprecipitation method. X-ray diffraction data indicated that all α-AgZnWO (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.25) microcrystals presented an orthorhombic structure. The experimental values of the micro-Raman frequencies were in reasonable agreement with both previously reported and calculated results. Microscopy images showed that the replacement of Ag by Zn promoted a reductio… Show more

“…The Wulff proposal refers to a simple relation between E surf and the distance in the normal direc tion from the center of the crystallite, which also allows this ideal morphology to be modified by tuning the surface energies of the different facets [62,63]. In recent years, this method was successfully applied for different kinds of materials, showing excellent agreement between theoretical predicted and experimental reported morphologies [45,[64][65][66][67].…”

“…Therefore, theoretical approaches are of key importance for the understanding of the structural and electronic characteristics of materials, which can be employed to propose methods for the modulation of their properties. In many systems, using computational simulations, the characteristics including vibrational spectra, lattice parameters, and nanoparticles morphology can be obtained with a good accuracy …”

“…The α-Ag 2 WO 4 microcrystal was prepared by the coprecipitation (CP) method as previously described 46 . The procedure is described as follows: 2 × 10 −3 mol of silver(I) nitrate (AgNO 3 ; 99.8% purity, Sigma-Aldrich) was dissolved in 50 mL of deionized water at 80 °C under magnetic stirring and then this solution was added in 50 ml of 1 × 10 −3 mol of sodium tungstate (VI) dehydrated (Na 2 WO 4 ·2H 2 O; 99.5% purity, Sigma-Aldrich) previously dissolved at the same temperature.…”
