In this article, we propose to modernize the design of variator pulleys, which will increase the contact area of the friction pair, ensure durability and increase the efficiency of the entire mechanism. The modernization consists in improving the working profile of the pulley, which allows for the greatest and uniform coverage of the trapezoidal V-belt with minimal distortion during tension. Parametric equations of the curve forming the pulley profile are obtained. To determine the parametric equation, the deformation of the transverse fiber of the belt was taken into account. A method for calculating the change in efficiency depending on the speed of rotation of the pulley with both straight and curved generatrix is proposed. A comparative assessment of the contact areas is carried out and the effectiveness of the proposed method for improving the operational characteristics of V-belt transmission is shown.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
