This paper reviews the recently developed multiport network modeling approach for the analysis and the design of microstrip patch antennas. In this approach: the fields in the interior and the exterior of the patch are modeled by separate multiport subnetworks. Network theoretic techniques are then applied for the analysis, the sensitivity analysis, and the optimization of the antenna configuration. Several examples of antenna configurations for which this approach has been applied are summarized. The suitability of this approach for the CAD of microstrip patch antennas is pointed out.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
