Recently experimental evidence have been obtained, by optical absorption meas-urement~ with polarized light (4 1C) that GaSe has an indirect energy gap (1, 2),
The energies of IR active Azu modes in both HBe, and HfS, are not known, since it is experimentally difficult to perform IR spectroscopy measurements for Eilc. The experimental results of our first and second order resonance Raman measurements show that A,,(TO) = 180cm-' and A,,(LO) = 295cm-' in HfS,; in HfSe, we obtain A,,(TO) = 120cm-' and A2,(LO) = 175cm-' . Our results are consistent with those theoretically calculated by means of the polarizable ion model.* Work partially supported by M.P.I.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
